What Mensies?

I used to hate me period, now it's not so bad... Let me tell you the little tale.

I think I got my period in the 6th grade. But I never really started to have any of the really bad symptoms until I went into high school. I'm talking all of it... cramps, bloating, fatigue, short-term memory loss (lol, seriously), air headedness, constipation (TMI???), mood swings, the full nine yards. In fact, I would get cramps so bad to the point that I would turn white as a ghost and almost pass out. On a couple occasions I was in so much pain that I actually was throwing up. ...these types of issues continued over the years and even up until about a month ago.

...but before a  month ago, actually about 13 months ago, I actually started taking birth control for several reasons. The first was that I was getting married and babies are not in my near future plans. The second was to help control my break outs, which didn't actually help that much. The last thing which is the one good thing about it was that it regulated my periods and made them lighter, but it did not eliminate any of my period symptoms. One month ago, I quit the birth control because frankly, I believe the natural way is the best way. I hate the idea of pumping my body full of pills and things that just aren't being produced or provided naturally.

About two months ago, one of my really good friends contacted me about this product that she started repping that was all natural and is geared toward weight loss, clearing the mind, and other amazing health benefits. It is called Javita. She didn't want me to just try the product, she wanted me to sell it. Straight from the begining, I was like "Hell No". I didn't want to hassle with it. Every couple weeks or so she would try again to get me involved. Finally, I caved. I listened to her pitch, and I was intrigued. A cup of instant green tea later, I was on board... I mostly wanted to do it for the weight-loss benefits because as a newly wed I packed on a little extra weight. What I didn't realize at the time was how much this product was going to change the way I look, but my life as a whole.

About 5 weeks ago friend dropped off my boxes of samples to share with people, I couldn't help but get my little grubby fingers on a packet of the tea. I had just started my period that day so I was tired, moody and felt like a dead beached sea lion. I needed the pick me up to get through the rest of my day. Literally within 10 minutes, I was a new person. I was up on my feet running around the store like a boss, getting things done. The fatigue was gone, my moodiness was gone, and my bloating was subsiding.

That week, I drank my Javita Lean & Green Tea twice a day for the entire week, and not only did I lose 4 pounds, I did not have cramps, I did not bloat, I was not tired, and my mind was clear, and my period was lighter!!!. It was like I did not have a period even though I did. It was incredible.  Even this week, my period week,  my period is lighter, my mind is clear, I am energized, no cramping. ...it's just like "WHAT MENSIES!?"

I, at this point in my life, have no desire to get pregnant, so every month I get excited to get my period because I want my period (strangely enough). I used to be happy about it for the first 30 seconds, and then I wanted to spend the rest of the week burrowed in the sheets with a barrel of chocolate ice cream that is filled with chocolate brownies, chocolate fudge, chocolate pieces, and don't forget the chocolate sauce. The fact that I no longer have all the symptoms, but just the gory part is literally the most amazing gift that I could have received from tea. If I'm going to have to bleed out for a week every month then I want it to be as comfortable as possible, and right now I feel like I could run a marathon. ...before I would start to cramp up and get sick just from speed walking a quarter mile. I no longer want to attempt to cut out my ovaries with a butter knife while lying on a heating pad in severe pain. I no longer want to hide in my bed like a  sloppy angry troll that hogs all the chocolate in the house. I just want to be and am the most sunshiny version of myself during what used to be the worst week of every month.

What I am trying to get at is that Javita didn't just change my period, it changed my life. It means that I get to enjoy all four weeks of the month now, not just three.

Snowmen.

I have been on the mad hunt for some festive Christmas décor that is cute, fun, and matches my style. I found these two little guys at Target today, and well.... it as love at first sight. I love snowmen for the holiday season. Maybe it is because I am an Arizonan & don't see snow... I think I have only made a snowman once or twice my whole life. So being able to have them around me during the chilly months is a true treat.

Christmas PJS!

The last couple Christmases I have taken it upon myself to find Christmasy pajamas for my husband, and every year I complete that task, and feel quite pleased about it. However, every year theere has been a tinge of jealousy because I, myself, do not have Christmas pajams. So i took it upon myself to change that. I didn't want pajama pants, nor did I really want flannel. Those are just 2 things that I don't like to sleep in, and I don't want to buy them just to put on for Christmas breakfast. 

Anywho, while at American Eagle to make a quick exchange I stumbled upon these fun little Christmas jammy shorts. They are the 3 Cs. Cotton. Cozy. Cute. I cannot wait to get these and wear them on Christmas! I will no longer be left out from the Christmas PJ extravaganza!

There Zara Rain boots have me begging for rain. These are a wardrobe essential. Why? They are classic, timeless, and well..... essential. Even in Arizona we have a torrential down poor. ...and sometimes that mean that rain boots are the best gear. Puddles galore and occasional flooding in the wash could be a lot of fun as long as I have on the right footwear, and then why not keep it classy too!?

I am no stranger to Zara. This is the time of year, when the time of night sneaks upon us quickly and there is a slight chill in the air,  that I cannot resist Zara and all of their beautiful winter and fall pieces. It's so difficult not to fall in love withe cozy knits, the ponchos and duffle coats. ...and of course the color olive.

Everyone looks good in olive. It's practically a neutral. It is one color that every woman should have in her wardrobe. ...and in my case, it's what most of my wardrobe should be made of. For me... olive is the new black.

I feel like I have been on the hunt for all sorts of things lately... New furniture, new clothes, Christmas presents. I feel as though my eyes have been glued to a computer screen every second that I am home... My poor dog..

I found this sofa on Joss & Main, and shared it with my husband. I have always liked the Sophisticated appearance of a tufted sofa. I knew my husband would like it because he once pointed out that he liked the gigantic tufted sofa in the showroom of Restoration Hardware. Since a giant Restoration Hardware sofa won't fit our home, let alone our budget. I thought this one would be a good substitute. Not to mention I love that it is "L Shaped" aka extra cozy and spacious, and ideal for movie nights!

 The part that I really like is that I feel like it is a very transitional design. My house is kind of eclectic, somewhere between bohemian & rustic with a touch of modern. I think this could be an excellent edition. 

Boots for the Taking

Within the last week or so, I have been obsessing with a strong desire for black booties. ...but also cutout booties. I don't why or hwo this came about. It is something that I needed to take care of. I feel like for days, I have been fervently searching for the perfect pair. What kept coming back to was this bold pair known as the Steve Madden Cinch Bootie. I love nubuck boots, for some reason, I stray from the harshness of a pure leather boot, well actually I know why... It's because I feel as if it makes my feet look bigger. Also, I love the golden tones of the buckles because I already have a taupe boot with silver buckles, and I, a majority of the time, accessorize with gold.

A Masovia Sweater for Me

The first time I  saw the Calypso St Barth Masovia Sweater was in the marketing email and it was love at first sight. It looked so A-MA-ZING! I was obsessed, and then I went to work, and had the privilege of seeing it in the store. It was exactly what I thought: An amazing necessity for winter. It is a heavier knit than most of the cashmere cocoons, it is hooded, the pockets sit a little higher, and the it is has this really cool contrast with the knit along the neckline which probably isn't intended to show, but I love that it can show. Fact of the matter is... This sweater was ordered, and it is on its way. I cannot wait to receive it next week!

Wardrobe Essentials: PLAID

My wonderful husband is currently out of the country for work on a 7 month mission... and even though i won't go into all the details, I decided there was no time like the present to take his wardrobe into my hands. I set out on a mission to only update his wardrobe but to do some Christmas shopping as well. The place that I discovered is The J Crew Factory Store online. After hours of hunting for all the right things and multiple transactions later.. it has started to come together. But the point that I am trying to get to is that there was one piece that I fell in love with, strangely enough it was the first thing to show up at my door. A plaid shirt. Once it was out of the package, I had it on... and I was OBSESSED. I strongly considered keeping it for myself, but then I realized that that would defeat the purpose of ordering my husband clothes. So then I considered just sharing... but then I realized that I would probably still wear his shirt more than him, and it would get worn out quicker with both of us wearing it. Soooo there was only one option left. I ordered one for myself, too. Oh yeah, and my sister is getting one for herself as well. Can you say cutest Christmas Card ever!? LOL If only I could get one small enough for my dog.

Cutout Booties

I have been thinking long and hard about the type of booteis that I want to get this fall/winter. & I think cutout booties are the way to go. I recently had a client in my store ( I work for Calypso St. Barth in Scottsdale), she had on the coolest pair of booties. At first I was unsure, but by the time she was leaving, I had to know where they came from and who made them... When I got home the research began... It turns out they were Jeffrey Cambell, and yes, I feel the need to have them!
